Frequently Asked Questions
If you’ve never hired a freelance copywriter before, you’ll find the answers to some commonly asked questions below.
Your copy is arguably the most important aspect of creating your brand. So why take shortcuts with something that important? Hiring a good freelance copywriter doesn’t just save you time – it gives you access to a trained wordsmith, and that’s exactly what you need to create the best possible impression of your business. The bonus is that hiring a freelance copywriter also works out much cheaper than hiring someone in-house. You only pay me when you have work that needs doing, and you don’t have to pay my pension, office space, sick pay or holiday pay!
It really depends on how much you want writing and on my workload at the time. I’ll accommodate last-minute requests if I can, but I have a tight schedule, so the more notice you can give me, the better.
I quote on a project-by-project basis depending on how much needs to be written and how long I think it will take me to research and write it. See my rates page for more information. I tend to have a packed copywriting schedule, so if you need me to drop everything else and turn work around at very short notice, please be aware that I may charge more than my usual rates.
Get in touch with your requirements and I’ll send you a quote! If you’re happy with that quote, I’ll send you a contract and invoice half the project fee upfront if you’re a new client. The remainder of the project fee is due on completion. After that, if you want further copywriting from me, I’ll just invoice you at the end of the month.
As a sole trader, I make my living from freelance copywriting; prompt payment is therefore extremely important to me. My payment terms are strictly 14 days, unless we’ve agreed otherwise when we start working together. In accordance with late payment legislation, significantly overdue invoices will accrue statutory interest and late payment fees.
I can’t afford to give away my time unpaid, so I’m afraid that I don’t do free samples. If you’d like me to take the time to research and write copy for you, it must be paid for in full, whether you end up using it or not. Of course, my prices include a round of edits, so if my initial draft isn’t quite what you were after, I can tweak it until it is. I’m also more than happy to provide examples of my previous work in a sector relevant to yours, if there isn’t anything relevant in my online portfolio.
